John Burton's law offices are located in a classic craftsman-style converted home near the wonderful Old Town district of Pasadena. Since 1984, we have represented hundreds of people injured in accidents or by the police. Our civil rights practice has obtained significant financial recoveries for victims of harassment and discrimination at the workplace. Finally, we represent many individuals and small businesses in other litigation matters.
John Burton has 25 years of experience as a plaintiff's trial lawyer in the Los Angeles area and throughout California. He has tried more than 40 cases to a jury, both in federal and state courts. He is experienced in business, probate, employment, personal injury and criminal defense litigation, as well as civil rights. From 1981 through 1989, Mr. Burton was a professor of Torts at the University of West Los Angeles School of Law.
Mr. Burton has been profiled in Los Angeles Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. He has been quoted on numerous occasions in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Daily Journal and local newspapers, and has appeared frequently on national and local television and radio, addressing issues relating to civil rights.
Mr. Burton participated as a candidate endorsed by the Socialist Equality Party in California's 2003 recall election, finishing fourteenth out of a field of 135.
